How much does a bail bondsman charge?

A bail agent charges a fee of up to 15% of the total bail amount. This fee is non-refundable.

When is collateral required?

If the defendant appears for all court appearances, the bail is dissolved at the completion of the case and the bail agent will return any collateral that may have been required.

If the defendant doesn't appear for all scheduled court appearances, the bail is forfeited.  The cosigner may be required to pay the full amount of the bond and the defendant willl be surrendered back to jail.

Collateral may be required if the defendant has a history of missing court or has few ties to the area where they must appear in court.
